17 Jul USATF Foundation Welcomes Robert Olson to Board of Directors
PITTSBURGH, PA –
The USA Track & Field Foundation is delighted to announce the addition of Rob Olson to its Board of Directors, as announced by Foundation CEO, Tom Jackovic, and Chairman, Bob Greifeld.
Olson is a retired financial professional and CEO with a distinguished career specializing in business acquisitions and mergers, with over 100 acquisitions to his credit. He has served as CEO and Board Member for several companies, including Butler America, LLC, an aeronautical engineering firm, and Hammon Plating, Inc., a provider of specialized plating for the Space Shuttle.
Olson graduated from Brigham Young University (BYU), where he was also a member of the track team, excelling in the high jump with a personal record of 7’3”. During his time at BYU, Olson was a two-time conference champion and competed in multiple NCAA Championships. He is a lifelong track and field enthusiast, having attended six Olympic Trials and three Olympic Games as a fan. An avid runner, Olson has completed 20 marathons and continues to run 30-40 miles a week.
“As a lifelong track and field fan, I am thrilled with the opportunity to associate with the esteemed Board members of the Foundation in assisting and supporting the young athletes of USA track and field,” stated Olson.
Olson’s passion for track and field extends beyond his own athletic accomplishments. He has assisted BYU Head Coach Ed Eyestone, his college roommate, with Southern California recruiting efforts.
Olson says, “I love track and field, I love the individual nature of achieving what was thought in the early stages of training to be impossible; we need to do a better job of passing that love on to the rising generation.”
The USATF Foundation is honored to have Olson join its Board of Directors, bringing his wealth of experience, dedication, and passion for track and field to support the Foundation’s mission.
