USATF Foundation Reveals 46 Youth Club Grant Recipients

The USA Track & Field Foundation is thrilled to announce an astonishing $102,550 has been awarded to 46 youth clubs across the country.  This is a record-breaking total for the Foundation.

In 2024, $79,800 in grant funds were awarded to 43 youth clubs, along with an additional $18,000 awarded later in the year for a total of $97,800. The USATF Foundation has consistently increased its youth club funding over the past several years and intends to continue this path of additional youth support.

“We’re proud to support many youth track and field clubs nationwide again this year. These are organizations that not only develop athletes but also uplift their communities. These grants help ensure young athletes have the tools, encouragement, and opportunities they need to chase their goals and grow through the sport they love,” stated Youth Committee Chair, Therese Hammerschmith.

Youth club grants are awarded through a competitive selection process. The youth club grants are carefully reviewed and determined by the USATF Foundation Youth Club Committee, based on a combination of financial need, organization leadership and supplemental opportunities offered.

The Foundation has always had a strong belief that to cultivate medalists at the Olympic level, you must have a powerful base. Focusing on the youth of the sport opens up the potential for growth in both the lives of the athletes and the vitality of track and field.  The Foundation hopes to stimulate a positive atmosphere, instill lifelong habits and a strong work ethic that can be translated to all other aspects of life.

Through the countless applications received each year, it is apparent that the need for financial support is nation-wide within youth track and field.  The intent of these grants is to provide more opportunities for young athletes.  The USATF Foundation youth club grants allow programs to travel to competitive meets, acquire necessary equipment or gear and obtain access to training facilities.

“We are deeply grateful to the USATF Foundation and the Board for investing in the Kentucky Golden Eagles (KGE) Track & Field program and its young athletes. The USATF Foundation was the very first organization to financially support our vision for KGE, and that support has meant everything,” said Niki Lewis, Co-Founder and Co-Head Coach of the Kentucky Golden Eagles. “Because of this grant, we are better equipped to provide KGE athletes with an enhanced coaching and team oriented environment. The support has helped us make several track and field equipment purchases, secure professional team photography opportunities, pay toward meet registration fees, facility rental fees and partial team scholarships for nine athletes. Your tangible contribution allowed us to expand our youth track and field footprint in our community and beyond! Thank you so much!”

The USATF Foundation also continues their partnership with Running Warehouse which will benefit all the 46 clubs. This partnership extends significant discounts to grant recipients on purchases of uniforms, warm-ups, and general gear via runningwarehouse.com. In addition, Running Warehouse has integrated a donation option for customers at checkout to donate to USATF Foundation, with all proceeds going directly toward supporting this Youth Grant program.

These 46 clubs will be receiving a USATF Foundation Youth Grant Award:
