13 Dec USATF Foundation Provides Donation for Bay Area Track Club Kids Program
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The Track and Field Athletes Association, partnering with the Bay Area Track Club, is pleased to announce a sponsorship from the USA Track and Field Foundation. The USATF Foundation will now match any donations received up to $1,000 to the Bay Area Cross Challenge and BATC Kids Program!
The Bay Area Cross Challenge (BAXC) is just a month away – January 13, 2013. It is a unique opportunity for runners of all ability levels to compete alongside professional distance runners on a cross-country course in the heart of San Francisco. By partnering with the Bay Area Track Club for this event, the TFAA will continue to pursue its mission of promoting alternative venues and events for track and field in order to broaden the fan base and engage with the community. Prize money will be offered to the top finishers on the men’s and women’s side, provided that the finisher is a current TFAA member. Elite runners will then “pace” the participants in the kids’ runs, and end the day of races by raffling off prizes and speaking to the kids about the importance of a healthy body and mind. The TFAA and the BATC will also host a “meet and greet” event with Olympian and world-class athletes in town for the BAXC meet, open to the public.
