22 Nov USATF Foundation Donates to Distance Training Centers through Plus3
INDIANAPOLIS – The USA Track & Field Foundation has continued its tradition of supporting Distance Training Centers across the country this year donating over $44,000 thus far in 2016. The Foundation works alongside its partner, Plus3, to deliver a creative and inspiring way to award financial aid to deserving runners and track & field athletes.
The Foundation enables fans and supporters of distance running to log healthy activities on the Plus3 website, and for every activity logged, a monetary donation goes to one of six USA Distance Centers. The six selected USA Distance Centers have received over $44,000 thus far in 2016 with a final quarter in progress to continue racking up donations. Since the implementation of the program in 2012, the Foundation has donated over $125,000 to Distance Centers.
Athletes in the USA Distance Centers invest their time and energy each day for the dream to represent Team USA in professional running and on an international level. Their struggles financially are what inspired the USA Track & Field Foundation to sponsor these clubs: NJ*NY Track Club, Team USA Minnesota, Team Furman Elite, Team Run Eugene, Brooks Beasts and ZAP Fitness.
“The distance centers provide one of the best ways for aspiring US athletes to grow and thrive by building a layer of peer support, coaching, and other amenities that can be critical to making the jump to being international medalists,” said USATF Foundation Director Joe Fabris. “And as funders of those dreams, we at USATF Foundation love the way we can involve fans in their funding.”
Fans, supporters, and any members of the public who would like to turn their exercise into money for a USA Distance Center can log onto www.plus3network.com/usatffoundation – and choose a center to support for free.
Plus3 was co-developed by USA Track & Field Foundation Director, Joe Fabris, a former distance runner himself, in 2009. Thanks to this innovative program people are challenged each day to exercise and be healthier than ever before. Every day funds are accumulated for specific organizations according to the minutes of physical activity that the public performs. Plus3 is two-fold in that it assists the clubs with the funding they need while simultaneously involving and challenging fans and the general public to get active and stay active.
