22 Jul USATF Foundation donates $20,000 to the Mark Springer Travel Program
INDIANAPOLIS – The USA Track & Field Foundation has donated $20,000 to support the Mark Springer Youth Travel Grant Program, Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic and Chairman Bob Greifeld announced today.
The USATF Foundation strives to continue to support youth track & field across the country with their Youth Grant Program and aims to supplement a grant from USATF for the Mark Springer Travel Grant Program.
This travel program was named after the former USATF Director of Grass Roots Programs & Planning, and program originator Mark Springer. The program offers travel assistance grants to eligible youth clubs across the country for their athletes who qualify to compete at national youth and junior championship events.
“It is important that young athletes that qualify to compete on the national level get the opportunity to do so. These funds are meant to reward kids that have worked hard and deserve a chance to follow their dreams,” stated USATF Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic.
Mark Springer is remembered in high regard as he was well known for his time and energy working with youth and junior track & field programs. He was an employee at USATF from 1986 to 2004.
Since 2006, the USATF Foundation has contributed more than $200,000 to the Mark Springer Program. The Mark Springer Travel Grant recipients will be awarded by USATF at the end of July.
