USATF Foundation Announces Foundation Track Club

PITTSBURGH – The USATF Foundation and its Board of Directors are excited to announce the launch of its very own track club – the Foundation Track Club.  The Foundation Track Club is being created to give unattached American track & field athletes who are USATF Foundation grant recipients an opportunity to compete under the Foundation banner as one team.

In addition to providing athletes with the opportunity to compete for a team, Tom Jackovic, Executive Director of the USATF Foundation, believes that the club can establish a new model for supporting athletes.

“In creating the Foundation Track Club, we hope to more broadly tell the stories of our USATF Foundation grant recipients.  We will work to develop partnerships with entities that are interested not only in helping us build this new team, but potentially also supporting some of our grass roots initiatives like our Run With US! program.”

The USATF Foundation’s mission is to provide support for American track & field athletes who are competitive on a national and international level, but lack the financial resources to train and compete on a full-time basis.  For 15 years, the USATF Foundation has been providing financial support to athletes in pursuit of their dream of representing the United States in global track & field competition.  Athletes are now able to receive as much as $25,000 in financial support because of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts.

Any athlete who receives a USATF Foundation Elite Athlete Development Grant or Stephen A. Schwarzman Grant will have the option to compete for the newly minted Foundation Track Club.  “The creation of the Foundation Track Club is something that can benefit both athletes and fans.” says Bob Greifeld, Chairman of the Board for NASDAQ and Chairman of the Board for the USATF Foundation.

“The Foundation Track Club provides an opportunity for athletes and fans of the sport to be members of the same team.  Donors become true partners with the athletes – providing the financial support necessary to help them compete at the highest level.”

Members of the team will be provided Foundation Track Club uniforms and apparel.  The Foundation Track Club is open to both male and female athletes in all events.  The team will formally begin with the start of the 2018 track & field season.

The USATF Foundation is excited to finally be able to bring together and showcase the elite athletes they support under the banner of the Foundation Track Club.  It allows Foundation Directors, donors, and fans of track & field an opportunity to literally and substantively get behind and cheer the track & field athletes they already support through the USATF Foundation.
