23 Jul USATF Foundation Announces 2024 Stephen A. Schwarzman Grant Recipients
NEW YORK, NY-
Following a week of exceptional performances and record-breaking times at the 2024 USA Team Trials in Eugene, Oregon, the USATF Foundation is thrilled to announce its 2024 class of Stephen A. Schwarzman grant award winners. The Stephen A. Schwarzman grant awards represent the pinnacle of support offered by the Foundation, providing crucial assistance to Team USA athletes as they prepare for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
This year, 65 professional track and field athletes will receive $30,000 Stephen A. Schwarzman grants, while an additional 35 athletes will receive $20,000 grants. In total, these 100 outstanding athletes will receive $2.65 million in support. This funding will help cover expenses such as equipment, coaching, travel, medical costs, recovery tools, and other essential needs for these professional athletes.
“It’s an honor to again support an incredible group of athletes as they prepare to represent our country on the world stage. Their passion and commitment are an inspiration, and I look forward to cheering them on in Paris,” said Stephen A. Schwarzman.
Mr. Schwarzman, the USATF Foundation’s largest donor, has provided over $14 million in grant funding to date. In line with the Foundation’s commitment to emerging elite athletes, 14 of this year’s awards are reserved for athletes who have recently graduated from NCAA track & field programs with Olympic aspirations. This unique financial assistance aims to support these athletes during their critical transition phase and provide them with the resources needed to focus on their athletic careers.
“I am incredibly grateful and honored to be a recipient of this grant from the USATF Foundation. It means so much to me knowing I have that support! I would especially like to thank Steve for making this possible,” added grant award winner Alexis Holmes.
All USATF Foundation grants are selected from a pool of qualified applicants. Elite athletes are required to apply each year and are encouraged to complete the process in May or June. The Stephen A. Schwarzman Grants are decided upon by the USATF Foundation Elite Grant Committee, with criteria primarily based on athletes’ potential to medal at the next Olympic Games or World Championships. Consideration is also given to monetary need.
The USATF Foundation is excited to support these exceptional athletes on their journey to Paris.
Please Note: 60 additional USATF Foundation Elite athlete grants will be announced tomorrow.
