12 Sep Mark Lambert Named to USATF Foundation Board of Directors
INDIANAPOLIS – Mark Lambert has been named as a Director of the USA Track & Field Foundation Board, USATF Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic and Chairman Bob Greifeld announced today.
Lambert practices law, specializing in high stakes business and intellectual property litigation. He has been a partner at Cooley LLP since 2009, located in Palo Alto, California.
“Mark has generously given legal counsel and financial support to the Foundation the past few years and we are now very fortunate to have him as a Director. He has a true passion for helping athletes reach their dreams,” exclaimed Executive Director Tom Jackovic.
Mark Lambert grew up in Pacific Palisades, CA. He graduated from the University of California Berkeley in 1991 with a degree in English. There, he was a leader on the Cal Track & Field team serving as co-captain while competing in the shot put and the discus. After school Lambert taught English Literature and coached track & field and football at St. Mark’s School of Texas in Dallas from 1991-1995. Lambert returned to school to earn a Master’s Degree in English from Middlebury College in 1996 and a Law Degree from the University of California, Hastings College of Law in 1998.
Mark resides in California with his wife, Kelly, and their daughter Luci. Track & field is a family tradition, as Kelly also competed at the University of California in middle distances. Their daughter, Luci, is an aspiring middle distance runner and was part of the Junior Olympic All American 4×800 relay team in 2016.
Lambert became a friend of the USATF Foundation in 2010 as a provider of pro bono legal services, including assistance on the Foundation’s youth program Run With US!, intellectual property and licensing, as well as contracts and other matters. Lambert and his family are avid track fans, at all levels from youth to elite, and have taken great pleasure in giving financial support and enthusiasm to the USATF Foundation over the years.
“I am thrilled and honored to join the Foundation Board. Through years of friendship with the Foundation, I have deepened my connection with the sport, and gained a better understanding of the needs of track and field athletes at all levels, and the challenges and wonderful opportunities for track and field to thrive and enrich lives, and the American sports culture as a whole,” stated Lambert.
