Billy Mills won the gold medal in the 10,000 meter run at the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, becoming the only person from the Western hemisphere to win gold in this event. It is still considered one of the greatest upsets in Olympic history. Today, Billy is an accomplished businessman, author, and co-founder and spokesperson for the non-profit organization Running Strong for American Indian Youth. Running Strong helps American Indian people meet their immediate survival needs, while implementing and supporting programs designed to create opportunities for self-sufficiency and self-esteem. Billy is also the owner of Billy Mills Speakers Bureau located in Sacramento, CA and travels frequently around the United States and the world for events and presentations.



The USA Track & Field Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and innovative track & field programs with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth athletes, emerging elite athletes, and distance training centers. The Foundation depends upon donations from its Board of Directors, major gifts and from generous fans of track & field.

Elite athletes are supported by the Foundation via monetary grants and participation in Run With US! Youth athletes are supported via monetary grants to youth clubs.
