15 Nov Abdihamid Nur Inspires at Flagstaff Healthy Kids Running Awards / Run With US! Event
PITTSBURGH –
The Healthy Kids Running Series (HKRS) club in Flagstaff recently welcomed a special guest, Stephen A Schwarzman Grantee Abdihamid Nur, for their Run With US! event. Nur, an accomplished distance runner, joined the Flagstaff HKRS club for the awards ceremony week, where young runners received medals and trophies in recognition of their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
“The HKRS event was great! I really enjoyed it. I got to hand out trophies and chat with some future Olympians, I’m very grateful for the opportunity,” Abdihamid Nur shared, reflecting on the event and his interaction with the young athletes.
The event was a special occasion, as Marathon Award winners—athletes who completed at least 26 miles with HKRS—were also recognized. The marathon awards are proudly sponsored by the USATF Foundation, which has been a strong supporter to the Healthy Kids Running Series and developing future track and field stars.
“Having Abdi visit with our young athletes was a complete joy!” said Koren, Community Coordinator of the Flagstaff HKRS club. “Abdi shared with us what his early running experience was like, which truly resonated with the kids. His message that ‘if you want it, work for it’ showed them they can dream big too. It’s clear that as inspired as the kids were to meet an Olympic athlete, Abdi was just as inspired to share such moments with them as they begin their own special journeys.”
